Meet The Doctors

Dr. Bonaventura graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine where she earned a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1996. She participated in a General Practice Residency program from 1996 to 1997 and moved to Houston shortly after. After arriving into Houston, she attended the University of Texas Health Science Center for graduate studies in Periodontics. She received a specialty certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 2001. Dr. Bonaventura is board certified in Periodontics and practices full time in Pearland. In addition to running her practice, Dr. Bonaventura holds an Assistant Clinical Professorship at the University of Texas at Houston's Dental School. She is an active member of several local and national dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontics, the Greater Houston Society of Periodontics, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Bonaventura's dedication to her practice, staff, continued education and patients ensures the most comprehensive and advanced dental care available. 

Dr. Bonaventura is happily married to her husband Joe and lives in the Pearland area. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, traveling, going to the theater and loving on her sweet dog, Sugar Bear.

Dr. James graduated from Temple University, The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, where she earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2014. She then attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry for graduate studies in Periodontics and received a specialty certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 2017. Dr. James is an active member of several local and national dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontics, Texas Society of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, Greater Houston Society of Periodontists, and American Dental Association. She is also a past faculty member at The University of Texas School of Dentistry. 

Although originally from Chicago, Dr. James and her husband Kevin are excited to call Pearland their home. They have two adorable toddler boys, James and John, who keep them busy and on their toes.

Pearland Periodontics was so excited to welcome Dr. Sally Sheng to our office in 2019.  

Dr. Sheng graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles where she earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2011. During her time at UCLA, Dr. Sheng was the recipient of the Dean’s scholarship which honors excellence in academic achievements. She also dedicated her time to the underserved population by volunteering both locally and overseas on dental mission trips to Vietnam and Honduras. Dr. Sheng then attended the University of California, San Francisco for postgraduate studies in Periodontics where she received a specialty certificate in Periodontics and a Master’s of Science degree in Craniofacial Sciences in 2014.

In addition to being at Pearland Periodontics and Dental Implants, Dr. Sheng is currently a part time Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas School of Dentistry. She is also an active member of several local and national dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontics, Texas Society of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, Greater Houston Society of Periodontists and the American Dental Association. Dr. Sheng is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new culinary recipes and gardening projects.
